Day 1
I had finished packing the car except for the cooler. I went
in and started to fill it up, it was going to be to small. Okay a quick stop at
Walmart and I will be on my way.
Running a bit past my scheduled ETD but not bad.
Run in to Walmart and check the coolers trying to decide
between the 28qt or the 50qt. Grab the 50qt be safe. Get to the checkout, as
for a bag of ice. Since most of their merchandise has no price, I check the
receipt to see how much it was. She charged me for 3 bags of ice. I tell her I
requested “a” bag of ice, she said, no you asked for 3. Now, I have to go stand
in line to get a refund.
Stand in refund line. Lady is helping some guy, she is
talking on the phone. Put on hold, talking, hold talking,……….10 minutes later a
guy comes in to exchange a
TV. While on hold she asks what he needs, exchange, go pick
out what you want by the time you get back I be ready for you……talking. Looks
at me, asks what I need, takes the receipt……talking…..hold…..gives me refund.
Couldn’t have done that when I first got in line.
Get out to the car decide the cooler is too big……keep it and
leave.
Beautiful drive thought every tiny back road, alley, parking
lot and driveway, possibly a runway too. Preface, I am sitting in the parking
lot at Walmart attempting to program my route on WAZE, won’t do what I want,
which is no freeways or toll roads, Try to do it on the IPhone app, no go.
Download Google maps and load the route as requested. I got the scenic route
plus. At one point it routed me around about thirty car at a red light, It put
me in a parallel street and then crossed me back over to make a left turn in
front of these cars, I had been behind, before the light changed.
Somehow it got me right where I wanted to be, exactly on schedule at 3pm, to the minute.
Stopped at the Pine Crest Diner along the way. Figured I
would just get a burger and fries. Hadn’t eaten all day and I was starving. She
served a huge hand-made hamburger. I ate about 8/10ths of the hamburger and
half the fries and I was stuffed. It was delicious.
Well finally arrived at the campground, sign at check-in
says rain. I ask how bad is it going to be. Suppose to be torrential. First
night of a three to four month trip might as well get used to it. Also, don’t
forget to lock everything in your car, BEARS.
Good Night!
When I get an internet connection I will send this.
