Heading off to the hospital today

After 14 years of living with a hernia the doctors finally decided it was bad enough to fix it. I may be out of it for a couple of days. Hopefully, I will be healed enough for the Crawdaddy Festival on the weekend of May 16-17.

This is a panoramic picture I took with my iPhone a few days ago at sunset.

Laptop has died

My 2016 Apple MacBook has died. I can no longer upgrade Lightroom and the battery only lasts for about one hour. Sometimes when I log on it shuts down when I attempt to open an app. I have been researching a new one and finally contacted a friend at Apple and discussed the problem with her. On her recommendation and a few articles by some photographer reviews I selected a refurbished 2024 14” MacBook Pro M4Pro Chip with 14-core CPU, 48GB, 2TB, Nano-Texture. They shipped it yesterday with an expected delivery of Thursday, though it looks like I may receive it today. I will then have to load up all of my software. So hopefully I will be up and running in the next couple of days.

In the mean time here are a few iPhone14pro photos from this morning after a couple inches of snow fell during the night.

Eveline Recreation Area and Downtown Homer

Yesterday we went for a hike through the Eveline Recreation Area. Had a nice walk until we took a wrong turn and ended up having to backtrack. I almost lost a shoe when I missed a tuft of tundra and sank in the mud. My sister had to best me by sinking both her feet in the tundra mud. The dog was covered in mud. These are few shots I took along the way.

Today, while my sister was doing some volunteer work, I went wandering around Homer. I had to get a few ingredients for dinner tonight. I was also looking for a few more pairs of winter socks.

My favorite bakery
It has been a year and a half since I was last in Homer. When I entered the bakery there were a few people chatting in front of the counter. They told me they had ordered and moved to the right to let me by, I went to the left, as soon as, I could see the counter and the young lady (I forgot her name) behind the counter she looked up at me and said “Chocolate Bread”, this is of course my usual order. I LOVE this place.

Started with an hour+ drive to the Sunport in Albuquerque.
Then a flight from there to Seattle Washington with a connection to Anchorage Alaska.
Then a bus to Homer arriving at 2:30am.
