Went to a Birthday Party for a friend yesterday. A good band was playing.

Today I will be baking a Pineapple-Upside Down Cake.

Solar Up and Running

Received the part on Wednesday, had to work in the gallery on Thursday, so I couldn't install it until Friday.

I went up early on Friday and installed the last cable. I then hooked everything up and charged the batteries. I turned the system on and checked everything to be sure it was operating properly. The only problem was attempting to get my internet working. Two hours later it was still not working so I left.

Came back on Saturday and checked all the systems. Worked on the internet for another couple of hours, no luck. Sunday I moved back to my house. Finally, was able to fix the internet. All systems are working.

Waiting

 This past week I have spent numerous hours waiting for deliveries that were scheduled, cancelled and rescheduled. First was a delivery from Amazon that took three attempts before they finally got it to me. First they said there was a dog on the property, there isn’t. I do not know the reason they didn’t make the second one. The package was marked that they needed a signature for some reason, so that cancelled the third attempt. The fourth time they delivered it, did not ask for a signature, did not knock on the door, just left the package. Great job by Amazon, not.

At the same time I was scheduled to receive my new solar batteries on Thursday, cancelled and changed to Friday, cancelled and changed to Monday. Monday I am waiting for my delivery to come between, 12 and 4. At 4 I called and am told they will be there around 6. At 6, as I am calling, I look out the window and see the truck going to my neighbor’s house, I hang up and run down the driveway to direct him to my house. He unloads two pallet with 2000lbs of batteries. I then have to secure them in a locked shed, they are very heavy. I will have to go back and remove the old batteries and replace them with the new ones. I am not looking forward to shifting 4000lbs of batteries.

The picture today I have re-edited a picture from 2018. A pair of Curved-billed Thrashers are protecting their nest from a Bull Snake. They would take turns harassing it and would jump out of the way when it would attempt to strike them. They were finally able to chase it away.

First Day Back

I started my day by doing the usual chores, emptying the mouse and rat traps, filling up the water on the batteries for the solar system. I had a quick breakfast and a shower. Then was in time to go to the grocery store as there was nothing in my refrigerator.

 I went to start developing some pictures on my computer but had to update all the programs. I finally got that done, so tomorrow I can start working on the pictures. 

So it’s now evening time and I turned on my security system and I just had an owl flying onto my porch.

Went for my walk on around the harbor on the Homer Spit, I was joined by my sister and her friend. My sister has returned so I will soon depart, my house and dog sitting duties are over.

 Took a walk on the Beluga Slough Trail. This duck was a few feet off the trail.

Sandhill Cranes

 Went to the Beluga Slough at Bishop's Beach and found the Sandhill Cranes, they have started to return for the summer.
