September 27, 2016 Russell Valley to Rocklin

Left Russell Valley on a beautiful morning, I headed down I80 to Rocklin. The drive down the mountain to about 2 hours, the temperature rose quickly maxing out at around 100 degrees.

Arrived at Pam and Jerry’s house and was greeted by their ferocious canine.

We chatted for a while and then went out for lunch. Found a herd of goats trimming the dry grass.

Pam and I then watched a Woody Allen movie, something we do when every time we get together, Jerry went to the gym.

Jerry made his special hamburgers for dinner with the last of the California sweet corn.

Jerry and I stayed up to watch the Giants beat Colorado.

Tomorrow we will get out and about. I will be meeting with Aeron in the morning.

September 26, 2016 Russell Valley

Worked on some pictures today, rested and read. It was kind of a lazy day, which I needed.

Colleen went into town and Chris had some work to do.

Later we did some clean up and loaded trash and cardboard to dump. We went into Truckee, where we met up with Colleen and went to a Ti Chi class led by Chris.

We then went to the local health food store to resupply.

We then took a trip to Tahoe City to the Hacienda restaurant to join a birthday celebration.

By the time we returned home it was late and we all crashed.

Tomorrow I head to Rocklin to visit my friend Pam and her husband Jerry.

I will also hope to touch base with Aeron; hopefully she and I will be able to get together.

September 25, 2016 Russell Valley

Awoke to a chilly morning, started to pack up and wait for my friends to awaken. Started a fire for us to warm up by. Colleen made us all Santa Fe Sunrise eggs for breakfast.

We then drove to the dam and took some pictures. Later we drove to a waterfall in a deep gorge. We hiked around for a while and then headed home.

We rested in the afternoon heat. We went into Truckee and had a great dinner at The Drunken Monkey.

It is really good to connect with an old friend after years and it seems like you just chatted with them the day before.

Having a great time out on the road, I a currently researching doing this full time for 3 or 4 years. I have started looking at trailers and RVs. If it works out I hope to be back in Yellowstone in the spring and summer on the west coast.

I am going to head back earlier than I planned in order to pull it all together.

Until tomorrow have a great day.

September 24, 2016 South Shore Lake Tahoe to Russell Valley

I left the campsite and headed to the other side of the lake.

After numerous texts and intermittent service I was able to call Chris, I proceeded to his house in Russell Valley.

I arrived and was greeted by Chris, Colleen and "Amo" the Wolf. We started to catch up on old times. Then we prepared to go out to the East Meadow campground for the night. It turned out to be a perfect night and we had a great and relaxing time.

After a walk around we prepared a nice dinner and then chatted until turning in.

September 23, 2016 Reno to South Lake Tahoe

Took my time getting out the door today. Finally left Reno behind and headed to Carson City. Found a place to do my laundry, needed it I was out of clothes.

After, since I had skipped breakfast I looked on Yelp and found a Bakery/Café. I found it with my GPS a little house tucked away. I first walked into the kitchen and was directed around the corner to the entrance.

After getting a menu and seating myself I saw the pastry display. I was in heaven. I ordered a tuna Panini and a piece of Chocolate Decadence Cake. The tuna was very good I substituted Swiss cheese.

The cake was delicious. They had sooooo many more things, I resisted.

Found a campsite right across from the lake in South Lake Tahoe. If the weather is good I may get out on the water. There is a reserve on the Truckee River near the boat launch.

I should be getting together with an old friend from High School tomorrow, it has been a few years.

Time to read a bit and climb into my bag.

September 22, 2016 Lake Manzanita to Reno

Light dusting of snow this morning. The temperature was around 30, not the coldest morning.

Broke down the camp and hit the road to Reno or thereabouts.

So my plan for the sunrise was clouded out, so when you get clouds you play with them. The clouds were in layers and there were a few breaks allowing the sun to come through. They did completely cover Lassen Peak.

I slowly made my way stopping, as I knew it was a fairly short drive.

I just glanced at my fitbit, it seems sitting here thinking what to put down while watching the Giants beat the Padres and eating chocolate I am burning fat. I have to do this more often.

Not sure yet which way I will head tomorrow, just wait and see which way the wind blows.
