Morning in Homer

Sunrise in Fitz Creek Alaska

Went out early this morning looking for wildlife.
Took this dawn photo at the Homer Spit.

I was working at the store for a few days, then came home to watch the Warriors get eliminated from the playoffs. It has been raining on and off for the past few days, hoping to see some sun a little later today. Plan on going out to check out some more store around town.
I had planned to try a cinnamon roll, cinnamon roll Saturday in Homer, unfortunately, I went to get some cash and discovered my wallet was left at the house. I came home and made some breakfast, when I go out later I will attempt to get one for a snack.

I was at the store, so I am posting some more of yesterday's pictures.

This is a shot of the Golden Eagle just before being photobombed by the Bald Eagle.

Made a few sales at the store, I saw that Ken had sold another of my maze books over the weekend. Only one copy left of the six I brought with me.

Came home and had leftovers, then started cooking tomorrow night's dinner. Yes, I prepare in advance, especially, if I am arriving home at the hour I prefer to eat, not, start cooking. Now, I am smelling, the almost done, baked chicken wings. Timer went off.

Fresh out of the oven, I may have to eat one tonight.

Eagles Feeding

I went for a drive on the Sterling Highway, some very beautiful scenery along the way.

Saw a bunch of Eagles gathering and followed them, I was rewarded with a bunch of eagles feeding on an otter.

Kachemak Bay

Drove around Homer today looking for wildlife, on the way to the Spit, I saw a Moose. I turned the truck around and went back to take a few shots. He was still there when I got back, so I drove past and got my camera all set, hopped out of the truck, quietly. Slowly, I walked back to the stand of trees where I had seen him, this has taken only about 15 seconds, he is gone, nowhere to be seen. Searched for about five minutes, no moose.

I continued out to the Spit, seeking more spots to observe the wildlife and scenery with different view points.

These are a couple of the shots I took, there are more in the portfolio. I, also, took some bird pictures that I am still working on. I will post them later.

Water is Back

My pump guy came back with all the parts needed to get water back in the house.
After letting the hot water heater heat the water I was able to take a shower and do all the dishes. I am now doing two weeks of laundry.
It also means I can bake again, so a loaf of bread and a batch of brownies.

Had a fabulous sunset the other night.

Documenting our Adventure

Went out to the pond to take some pictures of the sunrise, I was not disappointed.

Alex, the videographer, who is doing a documentary on my sister, met me out there. He has been filming a piece about my sister, Lisa, for a potential series on women scientists. I was interviewed for this a few years ago.
He, now, wants to incorporate my mazes into the documentary, so he came out and filmed me starting a maze, which I will continue to draw as we drive to Alaska.
He will, also, be setting up a camera on the truck to film us on our trip. Lisa and I will be filming using our cameras, this will also be used.
This could be very interesting.

When I got back to the house, Lisa, was preparing blueberry crepes for breakfast. We were joined by our friend, Kate. They were very good.

More packing, fixing the house and preparing for our adventure.

Tripping on a Hike

A Lone Boat on Worden Pond
in Wakefield Rhode Island
Worden Pond, early evening.
Wakefield Rhode Island

Today, I mostly worked on the computer and took some pictures, experimenting with new filters.

I did go to Roma Point, to take a hike, was told there may be seals, there weren't. Very few birds. also.

Though, on the hike out, I was distracted by three women coming off a side path, and unceremoniously tripped at their feet. There was a root sticking up which I caught my foot on. Fortunately, I was cradling my camera and it was fully protected. I was also able to swing my camera bag, so that it landed on me. Thank You, Andy, my former racing coach when I was skiing, he taught me to fall. This has saved me from injury many times, as he made it instinctual. So, other then, a scrap on my arm and knee, as well as, feeling like a klutz, I was able to continue on my trek

Grilled a nice piece of Salmon for dinner with some fresh corn-on-the-cob, delicious.

Last night I was out at the pond attempting to photograph the comet and again the clouds were very uncooperative. Will be back out again tonight.

Hanging out and Lobster Rolls

Awoke at 3:45am to go out and take pictures of the Neowise Comet. Cloud cover blocked my view, but I waited believing that the sunrise could develop. It was also so peaceful and quiet, I just sat there for four hours. I did get a few shots, though I was hoping for some birds to test my new equipment.
A Heron landed in front of me as I was setting up, but took off as soon as he saw me.

Other than a few ducks, further out, there were only little birds flying around. Hope to test my lens before I am in Eagle country.

Came back to my sisters house, where I am staying until we leave.

We cleaned the house for a showing this afternoon.

We loaded the dogs in the truck and left the house to the agent.

This was a short test run for the upcoming trip. Drove out to Monahan's, picked up a couple of Lobster Rolls and Clam Chowder, We then headed to the beach to sit and eat, LOVE, my Lobster and Chowder.

Back home now for the night.

More tomorrow.....

Traveling

Starting off my trip, traveling from Albuquerque New Mexico to Providence Rhode Island, with a layover in Baltimore Maryland. Now, we wait until the movers fix their truck and arrive here for the next part of the journey. They have been delayed, again.
Unfortunately, that will be bad news for the Lobster population, which I will attempt to put a dent in while I am here. Looking forward to some good New England Clam Chowder while I am here.
I will also get the chance to visit, Jennifer, one of my favorite chocolate stores. Yum!
Hope you will enjoy following my travels over the next couple of months.

These Pictures were taken from the plane on the way.

Staying well protected while flying.
