Still in Alaska

Just a quick update. Had a terrible headache just stayed around the house. The next couple of days we had snow, rain and very high winds. The birds were flying backwards.

Did captured a quick picture of the harbor.

Today 4/20 was, Lola’s, birthday so we celebrated with an omelet. I made it with 6 eggs, chicken, cheese and kibble.

I went out today to attempt to capture some of the early Cranes that I heard were starting to arrive. It was very windy again, I did not see many birds and no Cranes.

The PTA from the Russian School were having a fundraiser, I stopped for a Potato Piroski, freshly made and very good. They were getting slammed from the amount of people who showed up.

When I retuned to. The house I found the Hippeastrum was in full bloom.

Last day in Homer and Heading to California

Sunday, after the 6+ mile hike the day before, we decided to take it easy.

My sister’s, “SO” is returning on Monday so we went to the grocery store and bought a few of the things she needed. We went to the, Boardwalk restaurant, for Halibut on a Stick and waffle fries. We ate half and saved the rest for dinner. Stopped by the, Pickled Pear, a food truck, to picked up some Mexican Street Corn, to have with our dinner

Returning to the house we relaxed and watched some TV.

Monday, Scotty, Lisa’s SO informed us his flight was canceled and he was rebooked for the next day. The airline booked him a room and gave him meal vouchers, he was going to go back to his mom’s house. Being the East Coast was sweltering and he had no A/C at his mom’s, well sorry mom, he stayed at the hotel.

We went to the airport and she dropped me off. Unfortunately, my hat was left in the car.

I went to check in and asked if the flight was on-time, I was told it was, in a belligerent tone. I then said I had one bag to check to San Francisco and one to gate check to Anchorage. I was informed by the agent that “she” would not “gate check” my bag because it was not a mobility device or car seat. I informed her that every time I had flown with them I had no problem gate checking a carry-on with thousand of dollars of photography equipment. She informed me “SHE” would not do it, thank you #RavnAir in Homer. I had her check the bag to Anchorage, figuring I had an hour and a half to retrieve it and make my flight.

At 8:45, she went to the gate to start the boarding, except there was no plane. It was late, she walked away after 15 minutes of standing there. The plane, finally arrived, no announcement, at about 9:20, thirty-five minutes late. We were supposed to depart at 9:15, needless to say we didn’t depart until 9:55. That left me with less than a hour to collect my bag, go through security and get to the departure gate.

My bag came quickly, security was very quick, and my gate was just about the last one on the concourse. I made it as they were finishing boarding. The bag that I checked all the way through did not. My AirTag showed it still in Anchorage.

I filled out a form at baggage claim in San Francisco, as the agent was entering the information, my phone alerted me that my bag was in Seattle. A second later she finished entering the information and it told her my bag was in Seattle. The, only, good part was the agent at #RavnAir didn’t charge me for my bags.

My, sister, picked me up and we went to her house. Her husband and I watched a James Bond movie.

Then it was time for bed.

Here are a few shots from my #iPhone12ProMax that I took as we were passing over San Francisco.

Quarantine Day 4

This mornings sunrise

Very lazy day, had to drag myself out of bed. Sore back, need to reheat the hot tub and climb in.

Fed the birds and did the watering.

Made some breakfast and discovered that my food delivery person forgot the eggs.

Just heard that Lisa made to Alaska at about 9:30am.

Update: Lisa made it to Alaska. She had to get up at 4am to make to the border by 9am. They only give you 24 hours to cross the Yukon. They had made a mistake on her paperwork when she entered, it showed her having to leave the same day she entered. It did not turn out to be an issue.

She went to US customs and sailed right through, the dogs even got a treat for the agents. They reviewed her paperwork and gave her a bunch of paperwork, which she threw on the seat on drove off.

I believe she said that she pulled over around 10 am to feed the dogs, which she hadn't had time to do before. Each dog wears a harness, a leash is attached. the leashes are then secured to a carabiner that is attached to the car. She went to get their food and bowls from the back. As she came around the car she saw and animal int the road, then she thought that it looks like a beagle. She thinks someone else has a beagle out here. Then she looks down and sees that "Houdini" aka "Lola" has once again slipped her harness.

Lisa calls out to Lola and she turns and starts running back. You can not make a move towards Lola after she is headed to you or she will bolt. Lisa made a slight move when Lola was about 6 feet away. Lola turned, Lisa shouted "LOLA DROP", she did and she peed. Lisa put them in the car and they were not to come out until she got home.

Which she had intended to spend another night in a hotel, as it was a long drive to Homer. Remember those papers she threw on the seat, she read them. Basically it said that you will go straight to the place where you will quarantine , do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. No gas station stops, No bathroom stops, No food stops, DO NOT LEAVE YOU VEHICLE "PERIOD". GMAFB

Waiting to hear if she gotten home, she figured around 8:30pm.

So, now you get hear about what I ate today.....

Cloudy Again

Went out, again, found the perfect spot to photography the comet, unfortunately, the clouds covered the horizon blocking the view.

Still awaiting word on the repairs to the truck. They were supposed to get the part Saturday and install it today. Fingers crossed.

Hot and muggy, so just kicked around the house.

Bacon wrapped scallops for dinner, yum.

This is "Lola" my sister's beagle.
